HEIM TWINS WIN POWERLIFTING COMPETITION
Hoxie seniors Carly and Josh Heim each won first place overall for their weight divisions at the Kansas Eight-Man Powerlifing competition April 25 at Central Plains High School in Claflin.
Seven HHS students competed. Josh Heim placed first in bench with 230 pounds, fifth in clean with 220 pounds, first in squat with 345 pounds, and first overall in the 148 pound weight class. Carly Heim placed first in bench with 125 pounds, first in clean with 155 pounds (for a meet record), first in squat with 205 pounds, and first overall in 123 pound weight class. Senior Tyler Ewers placed fourth overall in the 198 pound weight class. He benched 235 pounds, cleaned 265 pounds for fourth place, and had 325 pounds in squat. Senor Lexi Schamberger placed fifth overall in the 148 pound weight class. Her totals were 105 pounds in bench, 145 pounds in clean for second place, and 170 pounds in squat.
Junior Austin Rietcheck’s totals were 200 pounds in bench and 305 pounds in squat for sixth place. Freshman Zack Sherman placed fourth overall in 114 pound weight class with 100 pounds in bench for fifth place, 105 pounds in clean for fourth place, and 160 pounds in squat for fourth place. Freshman Latham Schwarz competed in the 148 pound weight class. His totals were 150 pounds in bench, 180 pounds in clean and 265 pounds in squat.
The men’s team placed 13th out of 41 teams and the women’s team placed 8th out of 24 teams. The Indian Powerlifters are coached by Lance Baar.
