Foil Boat Challenge in Physical Science Class
After learning about buoyancy with Archimedes’s principle in physical science, the freshman put their knowledge to the test with an aluminum foil boat challenge.
Each group was given an equal size of aluminum foil and a small amount of tape. They constructed their boats with very little instruction and then started testing them out. They added coins, marbles, and other various weights to see whose boat could support the most weight before sinking. The winning boat held over 900 grams!
It was a fun day with some friendly competition and learning along the way!
