The Title 1Book Cart
The Title 1 Reading room has provided our class with leveled books for the children to enjoy at home. At the beginning of the year I will place your child at the beginning of the cart. I will then move them up individually. If your child was at a higher level please do not view this as a set back. We have wonderful new books that I would not want the children to miss out on. During the first few weeks of school the children have so much to adjust to and are so tired by the end of the day. I like the easier levels because they set the children up for success. They are more relaxed and will build their self-confidence. We encourage the children to take two new books each day. The children are asked to practice the book and then read them to a special adult friend or a family member. The children most often struggle with retelling the story in just a few sentences. That would be a great skill to work on. You might try asking the children to give you 5. The children will tell you 5 details they remember from the story. After your discussion please sign the enclosed sheet. I will then review the book with the children the next day. Our families have seen a great deal of success with this program. We are so fortunate to have such faithful parent support. We couldn't do it without you.
