Students participate in Kansas Youth Art Month Exhibit
Kansas Youth Art Month Exhibit (YAM) was held in Topeka throughout the month of March. Kansas art teachers had the opportunity to select one work of art from every school they teach at. The following students were selected to represent Hoxie’s Middle School Art class and High School Art class: Campbell Scanlon - 7th grade, and Iauna King - 11th grade. These art pieces were displayed at the Shawnee County Public Library in the art gallery. Campbell’s art project was inspired by Henri Rousseau’s jungle paintings and was done in colored pencils and markers. Iauna’s project was completed by creating a mold of her hand using plaster bandages, into which clay was cast. Clay ocean animals were incorporated into the hand shape, and it was finished with acrylic paint. Even though these students didn’t place at the show, they had the honor of their work being chosen and displayed in Topeka. (Photo by Jackie Campbell)
