Hoxie Students Participate in Kansas Youth Art Month Exhibit
Kansas Youth Art Month Exhibit (YAM) was held in Topeka throughout the month of March. Kansas art teachers had the opportunity to select one work of art from every school where they teach. The following students were selected to represent Hoxie’s Middle School Art class and High School Art class: Campbell Scanlon - 8th grade, and Iauna King - 12th grade. These art pieces were displayed in the art gallery at the Shawnee County Public Library.
Campbell’s art project started as a pinch pot and formed into a gnome consisting of a head with a hat and beard. Iauna’s project is a whimsical clay house that was slab-built. You can peek through the window and see a finished interior with furniture, a rug, and a stove. Both projects were finished with acrylic paint. Even though these students didn’t place at the show, they had the honor of their work being chosen and displayed in Topeka.
