SEVENTH GRADE SCHOLARS BOWL TEAM PLACES SECOND
The Hoxie Jr. High School Scholars Bowl team traveled to Oberlin for a tournament on Feb. 15. The seventh grade team consists of Baylee McKenna, Karlee Geisinger, Kyler Niblock, Samantha Robben, Laura Rietcheck, and Imagen Tremblay. The eighth grade team consists of Victoria Rucker, Taylor Stein, Andrew Foote, Lyndzee Fellhoelter, Wylie Weems, and Ashlyn Kaus.
The competition was made up of nine teams: Greeley County, Quinter, Colby, Dighton, Norton, Oakley, Oberlin, Rawlins County, and Hoxie. Hoxie’s eighth grade team ended the rounds of competition with four wins and four loses to Rawlins County, Oberlin, Norton, and Colby. Andrew Foote was the high scorer with 140 points, and Victoria Rucker came in second with 120 points. At the conclusion of the eighth grade tournament Norton placed first, Colby took second, and Oberlin came in third.
Hoxie’s seventh grade team ended the competition with five wins and two losses to Norton and Colby. Kyler Niblock was the high scorer with 400 points, and Samantha Robben came in second with 100 points. At the conclusion of the seventh grade tournament, Norton again placed first, Hoxie took second, and Colby came in third.
"For being Hoxie’s first junior high tournament they did very well. The seventh grade team took home some medals which is a great accomplishment. I was very proud of both teams,” said Coach Jackie Campbell.
The next junior high tournament will be the NWKL tournament in Hoxie February 25. It’s open to the public.
