SEVENTH GRADER SCHOLARS BOWL WINS LEAGUE
The Hoxie Junior High School seventh and eighth grade Scholars Bowl teams participated in the NWKL tournament at Hoxie, on Feb. 25. The seventh grade team consists of Baylee McKenna, Karlee Geisinger, Kyler Niblock, Samantha Robben, Emily Dirks, and Zoe Gregory. The eighth grade team consists of Victoria Rucker, Taylor Stein, Andrew Foote, Lyndzee Fellhoelter, Jayce Storer, and Ashlyn Kaus.
The competition was made up of seven teams: Greeley County, Quinter, Dighton, Decatur County, Rawlins County, Wallace County, and Hoxie. Hoxie’s seventh grade team ended the competition with five wins and only one loss to Dighton. Kyler Niblock was the high scorer with 255 points, and Samantha Robben came in second with 50 points, and Emily Dirks in third with 30 points. At the conclusion of the seventh grade tournament, Hoxie placed first, Quinter took second, and Wallace County came in third. Hoxie took home first place medals and the NWKL bar.
Hoxie’s eighth grade team ended the rounds of competition with three wins and three loses to Greeley County, Dighton, and Decatur County. Victoria Rucker was the high scorer with 140 points, and Taylor Stein came in second with 120 points, and Andrew Foote in third with 50 points. At the conclusion of the eighth grade tournament Decatur County placed first, Dighton took second, and Hoxie came in third.
The next tournament is the Trego Junior High School Scholars Bowl Tournament scheduled for Monday, March 7, at WaKeeney.
