SCHOLAR'S BOWL TEAM PLACES SECOND AT GOODLAND
Hoxie High School Varsity Scholars Bowl Team competed in the Cowboys Classic Varsity Invitational Scholars’ Bowl Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 17 and placed second. Hoxie’s team consisted of seniors Noah Smith, Skyler Denio, Conner Depenbusch, junior Levi Smith, and sophomore Halie Weese.
Hoxie was defeated by Rexford - Golden Plains High School, who placed first in the competition. Other schools that participated in the tournament were Colby, Sharon Springs – Wallace County, St. Francis, Greeley County - Tribune, Oakley, Atwood – Rawlins County, Quinter, and Goodland. Hoxie’s top two high scorers were Skyler Denio with 160 points, Noah Smith with 110 points.
“The team did a great job. They were undefeated going into the finals for first and second place and ended up losing 40 to 70 to Golden Plains. It was the first time the team placed this school year and were happy taking home second place medals,” said Coach Jackie Campbell.
The next scholars’ bowl tournament is the league tournament on Monday, December 9, at Oberlin.
