FFA TRAVELS TO NORTHWEST DISTRICT GREENHAND CONFERENCE

On Mon., Oct. 13, seven freshmen of the Hoxie FFA traveled to Smith Center to attend the FFA NW District Greenhand Conference.  Attendees were Brooke Dorenkamp, Lilly Schamberger, Cami Schamberger, Latham Schawtz, Zach Sherman, Eric Thummel, and Jacelyn Whtie.  In FFA, Grennhand is the name of a first year member of the organization.  This conference contains two competition events and multiple sessions in which the district and even some state officers teach the Greenhands more about FFA and all the opportunities they have in the organization.  

Hoxie placed sixth out of 24 chapters.  The first event, which was Creed Speaking, is the recitation of our organization’s creed, which was written by E.M. Tiffany.  Lilly and Latham both competed in this event.  The second event is the Spell Down and is based off the competitors’ knowledge of FFA and its history.  Latham also competed in this event making it to the final round.
